Souls in Soles takes its title from the collection as a whole, where shoes become quiet records of the lives lived in them. These small vintage-style heels, affectionately known as the artist’s ‘Granny’s Couch Shoes’, are embroidered with butterflies, flowers and cats, but it is their muted beige tones that give them their particular charm. They are the only shoes in the collection presented aesthetically, as they are positioned in the exact way they might naturally be found, top to toe, in a shoebox.
