A pair of red patent Mary Janes set against the shoreline of Tighnabruaich, Hole in the Sole brings together the polished and the well-worn. The small hole in the sole is an unglamorous reminder that even our favourite shoes eventually show the miles they have travelled. Worn so frequently during the artist’s residency in 2025, she literally walked a hole in their sole. Set against the coastline, the shoes become a quiet record of movement, wear and time.
