An intimate portrait of the artist’s attempt to navigate the modern self-care and wellness culture: eye masks, sleep, relaxation and the constant attempt to keep ourselves feeling - and looking - young. Yet even in all that effort, her cat slippers give something away about the person underneath it all, revealing personality and character of the wearer. She intentionally takes shoes only worn in private settings, out into the public gallery space. The addition of the silk sleeping mask adds textural interest to the painting.
